Apply to be HSSA’s VP Social

Would you like the opportunity to be a part of the Health Sciences Students’ Association? The HSSA is looking for a VP Social!

Who’s eligible to apply? If you are a full or part time student in 2017-18 and have a membership in a Health Science Faculty Association (DSA, MSA, APSA, RMSA, NuFSSA, NUA/NGSA, SPHSA, MLSA, RTSA, PERCS) you are eligible to run.

Apply and send an email to uofahssa@ualberta.ca and prepare a two-minute speech to present to the current executive council.

Health Sciences Students’ Association (HSSA) is an interprofessional group representing all health sciences students’ on campus that fosters interdisciplinary collaborations and friendships through academic and social events. We work closely with the Health Sciences Council (represented by the deans of the health faculties) to bring the interdisciplinary experience to our students.

Full position summary:

  • Organize any HSSA social functions events as suggested and agreed upon by the General Council, including but not limited to: IP Launch socials, movie nights, bar nights (e.g. Lock and Key Party), Healthwave
  •  Work closely with the VP Finance to administrate funds related to HSSA social functions.
  • Assist in the efforts of Social Events organized by any of the health faculties represented in the HSSA. Promote these social events to the relevant health faculties
  • Manage a Social Committee which will be the official body that plans, organizes and implements all academically related events as per section IV.VI.
  • Work closely with VP Recruitment to delegate tasks such as tabling, postering, whiteboard messages, classroom announcements, promotion of events through volunteers, ticket sales, volunteer social media involvement, and other tasks to assist in the organization and promotion of social events
  • Work closely with VP Marketing to promote social events through posters, social media, website posts, and other means of communication to students
  • Work closely with Interdisciplinary Representatives to schedule events and communicate details about social events to their respective faculties

**As Teresa Li (Medicine) will continue as the Senior president, Junior President Candidates can not be students from the Faculty of Medicine.

[EVENT] LOCK & KEY PARTY 4 (SEP 26, 2014)

Following HSSA’s tradition, TOMORROW (Sept 26) will be our 4th annual LOCK & KEY PARTY!

This is our interdisciplinary night life event, but this year, it’s open to students from all other faculties at the U of A!

We have awesome prizes again this year, including: Marmot Ski – two one-day ski passes

Tickets for entry are FREE (Grab them from an interdisciplinary rep, the HSSA office, or the IP Launch table tomorrow in ECHA from 10am-3pm). The lock/key is $5 at The Pint.
